This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. As Moderator, Paul deals with a range of matters pertaining to ministers and churches i.e. the candidating process, pastoral matters, deployment and vacancies.

Paul is also closely involved with all ecumenical matters and links with the wider church.

Jane Langford-HorderThe PA to keeps the Moderator's diary and thus is the person you need if you want to invite the Moderator to your church or talk to the Moderator on issues of pastoral concern. The PA maintains the Synod database and is responsible for the Yearbook. Jane is the Synod Office Line Manager, Minute Secretary to the Executive Committee and Synod Meeting, and also the Candidating Secretary.

The relationship of the Clerk to the churches of the Synod is similar to that of a Church Secretary to the congregation. The Clerk interacts with all the activities of Synod to enable the witness of the local church, promoting networking across the Synod. The role includes: arrangements for Synod meetings; constitutional structures of Synod and its committees; Synod appointments and delegations; ensuring information is shared; and concern for the Synod Office.

Gill-HeathcoteAs Treasurer and Convener of the Resources Committee, and working with the Finance Officer and Property Team, Gil has oversight of Synod budgets, accounts and property matters. By virtue of his office, he is also a member of other Synod Committees and is a Director of the Synod's Trust companies. Although, normally, issues will be dealt with by members of the Resources Team, Gil will be available where his input would add value.

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Sue maintains our website and is responsible for our day to day communication within the Synod. She will usually answer the phone if you ring: 01223 830770 but it will help if you know to whom you want to speak. E-mail is now used wherever possible but if your church needs papers to be posted, we will do our best not to leave you out. Sue is the office administrator and takes all the conference bookings. Please contact Sue to book the Conference Room should you need it or arrange for documents to be copied.

 

FINANCE AND TRUST OFFICER - Vacant  -

The Finance and Trust Officer position is currently vacant at the moment. We will shortly be employing a new Finance and Trust officer to manage all the Synod’s financial and Trust affairs using computer based systems and also has responsibility for Sharing Agreements and office insurance. The Resources Officer helps to keep these systems working when the Finance Officer is out of the office.

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Penelope is your first point of contact for all new enquiries for Finance and Property matters. This role was created to meet the increasingly detailed support needs for Finance and Property matters. Penelope also manages the Synod Manse Scheme on a day to day basis. She can advise you on what process to follow and where to find the forms. She keeps a database of requests for Grants, Loans and Project Requests and act as secretary to the Synod Resources Committee and as Minute Secretary to the Trust Company directors Meetings.  The Resources Officer urges churches to ensure that contact is made with her in the early stages of planning any building alterations or tenancies and leases.

shannon 4The Property Consultant for the Eastern Synod supports the Resources Officer with his wealth of experience of both church and property matters. Our Property Consultant offers an increased level of support to local churches in respect of their buildings.

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. The MTO also has oversight for Mission across the Synod. The work of the MTO is to stimulate and encourage growth within the local churches and Elder's meeting. The MTO organises the provision of post-ordination and in-service education and training for Ministers. He works closely with the Moderator and the CYDO and is accountable to the Synod Pastoral Committee. He also plays an active role on the Synod Mission Committee.

 

NICOLA GRIEVES - Children's and Youth Development Officer -  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Nicola-2Nicola has been working with children and young people as a volunteer for 18 years whilst working as a Training Manager. Our CYDO, will also be accountable to the Synod Mission Committee and work closely with both Peter and the Moderator. The CYDO works with churches promoting, encouraging, supporting and developing existing work and exploring new ways of engaging with children and young people. The CYDO will oversee Safeguarding and will be one of the Synod Safe Church Advisors.
