About The Eastern Synod
The Eastern Synod of the United Reformed Church, is one of thirteen Synods (11 provincial in England, and 2 national in Scotland and Wales).
The Synod serves the local URC churches in Eastern England, many of which are linked with other denominations, thus expressing our goal of unity in God's mission.
Local URC inter-church fellowship and decision-making are fostered through the Area Partnerships. Within the Eastern Synod, there is also one United URC/Methodist Area Council.
The Synod Council, comprised mainly of ministers and lay representatives from the local churches, meets twice a year for worship together, fellowship, discussion and decision-making. The Synod Moderator - chairs these biannual meetings.
As well as the Area Partnerships, there are three main committees, an Executive Committee and the Trust Directors. More information about each of these can be found on the Council and Committees drop down.
Our Office Team are based in Whittlesford, although the Clerk and Treasurer are not based in Cambridge and only attend the office as necessary. More information about each of the team can be found on the Contact Us drop down.
