This year the United Reformed Church will start a new process to refresh and grow members’ and churches’ habits of discipleship and mission. The project was adopted by General Assembly in 2016 as a major emphasis in the life of our Church. This multifaceted programme will seek to equip people for whole life discipleship and to help local churches to grow as intentional communities of disciples.

To help to enable this project to take shape, you will be passionate about discipleship and mission and have a proven track record in project management and organisational culture change. This experience will have ensured you are an excellent communicator, highly organised with electronic and social media skills and a keen ability to motivate and encourage others.

Are you a highly motivated individual with a passion for the world Church family at home and abroad and with skills for Intercultural working in a Church context? This post is maternity cover for the Programme Officer who enables and equips local churches to build global relationships and partnerships. You will already have experience of intercultural and ecumenical working and knowledge of global affairs, from both church and secular perspectives. You will be able to reflect theologically on Mission and what it means to belong to the global church, and be able to work effectively on your own and as part of a team. You will also have excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills, and a high degree of experience with managing webpages and the use of social media. Fluency in a language other than English would be a distinct advantage.

An unusual vacancy has arisen in the United Reformed Church’s busy graphic and print office and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced individual to join our small and friendly team in this combined role of Risograph Printer and Print Estimator. You will have a keen eye for detail, excellent verbal communication skills, proven ability to negotiate contracts and obtain best price for supplies as well as being a proficient juggler of competing deadlines and priorities whilst remaining calm under pressure. The ideal candidate will already have experience of the printing process, Adobe Acrobat DC and excellent knowledge of paper types and estimating in a print environment.

Are you a creative Communications Officer with experience of both internal and external communications work? As a key part of the denomination’s national communications team you will be hardworking, with experience of researching and writing effective news stories, web copy, social media posts and devising and implementing proactive PR campaigns. You will have excellent technology and social media skills and be used to planning priorities, meeting tight deadlines and working flexibly across internal and external communications. You will be required to work on your own initiative as well as with others, have experience of handling sensitive media issues (including being on call out of business hours) and possess the ability to foster and maintain good relationships with a wide range of people.  You will be committed to promoting the aims of the United Reformed Church: a working knowledge of contemporary religious and social justice issues would be an advantage.

This experience will have ensured you are a skilled communicator, highly organised, with excellent people management skills.

We are seeking to appoint a new member to our team delivering the synod’s Missional Discipleship Strategy. The appointee will work across the Synod but will mainly focus on working with congregations in Lancashire.

There is an occupational requirement for the job holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 Part 1, Schedule 9. Lay or ordained persons are welcome to apply but these are salaried appointments including our synod lay staff pension scheme.
