We have an opportunity for a highly motivated and dedicated professional who possesses a strong conviction regarding the need to safeguard the vulnerable. In this role you will oversee the implementation and development of operational procedures and be our voice and adviser in all matters relating to safeguarding, providing support to synods and local churches.

With extensive experience of advising on a range of safeguarding issues, you will have knowledge in safeguarding case management, preferably in the voluntary sector. Your knowledge of best practice, statutory, and other guidance or policy concerning issues related to the protection of children and adults at risk, will be key in playing a role in arranging and leading the training others. You will be able to work with minimal supervision and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.    Previous applicants need not apply.

Are you an experienced communicator ready for the challenge of managing a busy, multi-disciplined team and delivering an excellent communication service for and about the United Reformed Church (URC)? Can you make the Church’s voice heard within and beyond the walls of the denomination? Can you demonstrate the ability to determine priorities consistently within available resources? If so, then you are the dynamic person we’re looking for to lead the communications work of the Church.

You will have responsibility for internal and external communications including media and website, URC publications, the design and production of promotional and educational materials, Reform magazine and many ad hoc projects and events that support the work of the Church both centrally and at the local level.

You will have a proven track record in developing and delivering strategic communications and will be highly organised, keeping track of the small things as well as the big. In addition, you’ll have good financial and people management skills and will thrive under pressure. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to operate at pace and deliver through others effectively.

Salary: £25,000 pa pro rata

We are looking for someone to lead our team and help us develop
our existing Messy Church, Junior Church, Pilots Company and
Carers and Toddlers Group. And to initiate new ways of being/doing
church, both on church premises and out in the community.
